Itinerary
HOBART > BICHENO
Begin your adventure by exploring the famous *Salamanca markets in Hobart. Then we will go up Kunanyi/Mount Wellington to admire the amazing views of Hobart. After stopping in the historic town of Richmond, we’ll travel north along the picturesque Great Eastern Drive, passing through the seaside towns of Orford and Swansea. We’ll head to the wildlife sanctuary for the chance to see some of Tasmania’s native wildlife up close, including Tasmanian devils. We continue late in the day to Bicheno, where tonight you can take a guided tour (own expense) to get a closer look at the life of the little penguin colony.

FREYCINET NATIONAL PARK
This morning we experience the beautiful Freycinet National Park, home to a wild domain of sublime beaches, whose powder-white sands are lapped by translucent waters. For those looking for a challenge, try climbing to the top of Mount Amos or join the hike to Wineglass Bay, voted one of the top 10 beaches in the world. Other free walking options are available, including the trail to the Cape Tourville Lighthouse, where you can enjoy sweeping views of the coastline. Afterwards, we return to Bicheno for an overnight stay, where you may be able to enjoy a delicious seafood dinner in this fishing village, tasting dishes from crabs to abalone.

BICHENO > LAUNCESTON
Today we continue along the East Coast, stopping at the Bay of Fires. This area is notable for its beauty, wildlife and cultural history, with long stretches of dazzling white beaches, sparkling turquoise waters, coastal heaths and forests teeming with wildlife. On the way to Launceston, we’ll explore more of Tasmania’s lush northeast, including giant tree ferns at St Columba Falls and Pyengana farmhouse artisan cheese. Lastly, we’ll see the enchanting Cataract Gorge in the heart of the city before settling in for the night in Tasmania’s second largest city.

BICHENO > LAUNCESTON

How active is this tour?
Hiking in Tasmania is world class, and we have selected beautiful walking experiences for our guests (we include many of Tasmania’s 60 Great Short Walks)
Some walks are guided, while others are unguided (free walk)
In many places you can choose between an easier or more advanced option
Essentially, you can make this as active or easy as you like; all tours are optional and range from 20 minutes to 4 hours
Please note that *Salamanca Market does not operate on Mondays (Saturdays only), but an alternative walking tour of historic Battery Point will be provided.
