Brisbane, a city to stay in
It is the third largest city in Australia, after Sydney and Melbourne. It is the capital of the state of Queensland, the connection point with numerous beaches, natural parks and well-known tourist enclaves. Brisbane is a city that combines art and adventure, where culture and gastronomy go hand in hand to satisfy all kinds of tastes. You can cruise down the Brisbane River, rappel down Kangaroo Point, or ride a bike through the Botanic Gardens. Visit Moreton Island, Noosa, the Sunshine Coast and the hinterland of the Gold Coast, you will always have cool things to do.
Brisbane is nice, it houses various historical buildings as well as super modern constructions that make it a futuristic city. The Brisbane River cuts through the city in the shape of an immense “S”, being navigable to the open sea, even by large tourist ships. It has an excellent artificial beach built next to the river, in the area known as Southbank, in front of the commercial center of the city. Both the Gold Coast and the Sunshine Coast are 1 hour away by car (or train), and can be visited on day trips.
Brisbane has a warm subtropical climate for most of the year. In the summer (December to February), maximum temperatures reach an average of 30°C. The city receives the most rainfall in summer. This is also the wettest time of year in Brisbane. Winter is generally dry and mild. Most winter days are sunny with an average temperature of 17°C.
The highest amount of rainfall is recorded from January to March. Autumn (March to May) signals the end of high summer temperatures and the beginning of cooler days and nights. Although the days are still warm, the average daily temperature is between 15°C and 25°C. In winter (June to August), Brisbane has good weather during the day with mild to hot temperatures between 11°C and 21°C. Nights are usually cool and morning temperatures can be quite low. It is a pleasant time to walk and explore the city and its surroundings.
Brisbane is a compact city with many walks, trails and cycle paths, which are well connected via bridges linking the main areas. Spring (September to November) is one of the best seasons to visit Queensland thanks to its warm and sunny days, tinged with a refreshing sea breeze. The weather is similar to autumn, with average temperatures between 15°C and 25°C. Nights are nice but can be cool. It’s a great time of year to enjoy days at the beach or go on a sightseeing cruise on the Brisbane River. The Brisbane Festival, the city’s main arts festival, runs from mid-September to early October.
