Itinerary
LAUNCESTON > BICHENO
Visit the impressive Gorge Falls in Launceston, before leaving the city for the East Coast and its stunning coastal scenery. At the Bay of Fires, you may be tempted to swim (weather permitting) in crystal clear turquoise waters. We’ll take our time exploring the white sands and lichen covered rocks and marvel at the cultural significance of the area. Tonight, once we reach the charming seaside town of Bicheno, you may wish to take the optional Little Penguins Guided Tour (own expense) to watch them walk up the beach from the sea by torchlight.
Night: Bicheno
FREYCINET NATIONAL PARK > HOBART
Freycinet is the jewel of Tasmania’s east coast, and we make sure to maximize your time here. We left early to get to the Wineglass Bay lookout before the crowds (and heat). Adventurous hikers can choose the more challenging climb of Mount Amos, or they can enjoy a more relaxing beach walk. Views of the pink granite Hazards Mountains from Tourville Head, culminating your Freycinet experience, before heading to Hobart via the Great Eastern Drive.
Night: Hobart
ISLA BRUNY
Bruny Island is home to the rare Bennett’s White Kangaroo, spectacular scenery, and outstanding local produce like honey, oysters, and cheese. Get ready for some delicious food tasting, incredible site views, and some exciting hiking options to Fluted Cape or a more relaxing coastal walk, with time to explore The Neck, Cape Bruny, and Adventure Bay.
Night: Hobart
PENÍNSULA DE TASMANIA
First, we will visit the colonial town of Richmond, then to the magnificent Tasman Peninsula. We will enjoy the incredible rugged coastal scenery of the Tasman Peninsula, with the geological features of Pirates Bay Lookout, Waterfall Bay, Tasmania Arch and Devil’s Kitchen. At Remarkable Cave, we will begin a truly beautiful coastal walk to experience the moon-shaped Crescent Bay sand dunes, with stunning views of the ocean. Or, instead of the walk, you may want to visit the World Heritage-listed Port Arthur Historic Site (own expense) to discover Australia’s best-preserved settlement.
Night: Hobart
HOBART > STRAHAN
Our journey through the Western Wilds takes us to the picturesque West Coast port town of Strahan. At Mt Field we will walk among some of the tallest flowering trees in the world and admire the marvelous Russell Falls. Later we’ll stop at Lake St Clair, which is the deepest freshwater lake in Australia, and enjoy some stunning scenery as we pass through Franklin-Gordon NP. Our last stop before Strahan is Queenstown for a glimpse into Tasmania’s mining history.
Night: Straham
WILD WEST COAST
First, we’ll take you to discover the natural beauty of the Tarkine Temperate Rainforest, where we’ll hike to Tasmania’s tallest waterfall, Montezuma Falls. On the coast we will explore the wide sand dunes of Henty. Or, today you can choose to join an optional cruise on the magical Gordon River (own expense). Later, we can breathe the freshest air in the world at Ocean Beach. Back in Strahan, our guide can help you search for the unique and shy platypus.
Night: Straham
CRADLE MOUNTAIN > LAUNCESTON
The alpine and glacial landscapes within Cradle Mountain NP are a hiker’s dream come true. Choose a challenging hike to Marion’s Lookout or enjoy the less strenuous loop around glacier-carved Dove Lake. At Ronny Creek, hopefully we’ll find some friendly wombats! We will admire the colorful murals in the city of Sheffield before ending our tour in Launceston.
